Road to School
The Road to School project, implemented in partnership with the Learning Links Foundation (LLF) in Khordha district, Odisha, improved the health and wellness of approximately 10,000 students across 42 schools through three broad components: the Learning Enhancement Program, Health and Wellbeing, and Community Engagement.
We combine community centric solutions, collaborative partnerships, and data informed approaches to empower local stakeholders and enhance existing systems. By focusing on continuous monitoring, capacity building, and adaptive planning, we ensure long-term, sustainable improvements that create lasting impact.
1.
School-Based Health Approach
The project adopted a school-based health model, integrated regular health screening, child health records, minor ailment treatment, and structured referral linkages thereby ensuring timely diagnosis and continuity of care.
2.
Capacity Building of Key Stakeholders
LLF field staff and teachers were continuously trained in health screening, immunization, hygiene, and nutrition-focused behaviour change communication through dedicated Nutrition Coordinators.
3.
Behaviour Change Communication and Community Engagement
The project used a behaviour change communication-led approach to promote healthy practices related to nutrition, hygiene, and health-seeking behaviour.
4.
Contextualised IEC and Training Material Development
Regionally adapted, age-appropriate IEC and training materials were developed to reinforce healthy behaviours and strengthen community understanding of child health and nutrition
5.
Evidence-Based Assessment and Monitoring
An evidence-driven monitoring framework was adopted to capture key health and nutrition parameters of baseline, midline, and end line assessments which tracked health, nutrition, WASH, and Mid-Day Meal improvements and guided adaptive implementation throughout the project cycle.
