Supply Chain Management for HIV/AIDS and TB Drugs
Supply Chain Management of HIV/AIDS commodities (2018-2021)
As a Sub-Recipient, we partnered with Plan India, to provide technical assistance in strengthening HIV/AIDS drug, diagnostic, and commodity supply chains under the National AIDS Control Program (NACP). The project was funded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM). We supported the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) and the State AIDS Control Societies (SACS) in maintaining an uninterrupted supply of antiretroviral drugs, testing kits, and related commodities across India, alongside developing SOPs for supply chain management. In 2020, a technology-driven Learning Management System (LMS) built personnel capacity, improving training coverage, motivation, and sustainability throughout the supply chain.
We combine community centric solutions, collaborative partnerships, and data informed approaches to empower local stakeholders and enhance existing systems. By focusing on continuous monitoring, capacity building, and adaptive planning, we ensure long-term, sustainable improvements that create lasting impact.
1.
Capacity Building of Supply Chain Management Staff
The project prioritized the continuous professional development of the workforce under the NACP and NTEP. Through a series of regional and national workshops, the project strengthened technical competencies in the supply chain management of ARV and TB drugs, diagnostics, and essential commodities.
2.
Digital Supply Chain Transformation
To modernize the national supply chain, the project focused on three critical digital enablers – timely and high-quality data, advanced decision-support tools, and a platform for reimagined processes. Leveraging transformative technology, a suite of IT applications was developed to transition existing operations into a sustainable, digitally-driven future.
3.
Learning Management System
Dakshata, a specialized Learning Management System (LMS), was launched to deliver scalable, high-quality training through seven interactive e-learning modules covering SCM processes and global best practices. Its comprehensive dashboard enabled learners and administrators at the Facility, SACS, and NACO levels to monitor progress and track skill development, strengthening the long-term sustainability of the health supply chain workforce.
4.
Technical Support and Development
Supported the strengthening of regional and state supply chains and logistics management under the National AIDS Control Program (NACP) and the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP). In collaboration with the Central TB Division (CTD) as well as State and District Drug Stores, the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), State AIDS Control Societies (SACS) and health facilities, we standardized and rolled out Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to improve procurement, logistics and last-mile delivery of critical TB and HIV commodities.
